Executive Search Firms in Taiwan

I am wondering which are the better executive search firms (headhunting firms) in Taiwan?

Will anyone please help in letting me know?

Thanks a million!

Regards,

You are in Singapore now? You might want to stay in Singapore, there are not many expat executive jobs here.

Stanley888 could be hiring locally for his firm?

What’s the expat job market like, anyway, Hobart? The only ads I reliably see in the English papers are for teaching English. The Chinese papers are much better, but naturally assume you would be able to read/write Chinese.

Anyway I’d like to know too… anyone?

If you’re White, you can forget about Wang & Li (if they are still open) helping you. Even if you do speak fluent Chinese.

W&L is long gone from Taiwan. Most of their placements I’m told were for returning Taiwanese. Now that returning Taiwanese are more interested in the Mainland than Taiwan, W&L’s closing ops here is hardly surprising.

Most of the advertisers in Amcham’s publications seem to be headhunters. Does anybody remember their names?

I found these at the AmCham website: http://amcham.com.tw/service_organizations.php#Executive%20Search

Here are others with long standing Taiwan practices.

Then again, Hob is probably right… why would anyone want to come HERE but teach English?!

A friend of mine would like to move to Taiwan and is interested in career opportunities in Executive Search.

Does anyone have a pulse on how jobs “in” headhunting are looking these days in Taiwan? Any firms that my buddy should contact?

Unless your friend speaks Mandarin, and has a strong Taiwan/China background it may be very hard to get a foot in the door.

The westerners I know, working in the head-hunting field are senior management, have lived in Taiwan for over a decade, and have very strong language skills. A a large portion of their business tends to be connecting Taiwanese professionals (Or Mandarin speaking ABC’s) with Taiwanese and foreign companies. Because of this many of their consultants are Taiwanese with expensive overseas business educations.

Not much to add to mwalimu’s post. Successful executive search guys have long relationships with the companies and people in any area. Taiwan is no exception. If your friend is new, he’s not going to break in because he doesn’t have the relationships. If he does have the relationships and the language skills, then he can check into the science park areas like Hsinchu, Taipei (Neihu, Nangang), Tainan for opportunities.

There’s another Executive Search firm called Boyden.

One of their consultants is a regular at Taipei Sports Bar on Fridays. Their business is doing pretty well.
