Ah, the perennial quest for yoga classes…
Hi welcome to Forumosa.
I have an American friend who teaches yoga out of his house in the mornings I’ll P.M. you his number. He teaches in both Chinese and English with foreigner/ locals in the class. It’s a fun class.
Tell her to get up early in the morning -sixish- and go to the nearest park, maybe even your own complex if it is big enough. Normally, Taiwanese people practice taichi and other martial arts there, especially older people -whose English tend to be better than the youngster, by the way.
She could ask for the nearest local class or she could join the open air ones and make friends in the community, not much Chinese required.
iv’e been told that the new da’an sport center is nearby but have not found it. anyone knows where it is?
It’s near the corner of Keelung and Xinhai Roads on the north side of Xinhai, west of Keelung. It adjoins the Daan District Sanitation office. Sorry, I can’t find the exact street address. Here’s a map
Heres what the little lady said:
So for yoga, I go to my gym California Fitness. They have hatha yoga, some power yoga, pilates, and body balance classes. Would suggest going to their website, where they post their class schedules for more details. They also have yoga only clubs, like True Yoga or Pure Yoga. These places would offer more variety of yoga and probably have more classes by levels, but generally they would be more expensive than California. Or, they also have cheaper yoga lessons at public sports centers, but I think they’re less fun and the schedules are probably all in Chinese.
