Export of used scooter

Does anyone know how to export a used scooter to South Africa? What is the tax involved?

Don’t know about the tax, but does SA have emissions standards? If so, it might not be worth it. Its certainly not worth it exporting to Britain or certain states in the US, as bikes made in Taiwan are not even close to meeting emissions standards, and the cost of the necessary conversions makes it not worthwhile, unless your bike is gold-plated or something.
Actually, I believe I read about this on Forumosa somewhere. Try a search.

I agree with, Sandman. I vaugely remember a thread on Forumosa about this.

My first question would be: why? Why do you want to export this scooter back to South Africa?

I could be wrong, but I’ll bet that it will be a costly and time-consuming affair. If you have a sentimental attachment to the scooter (“I survived five years of driving in Taiwan traffic on this trusty Kymco scooter”") then perhaps it will be worth all the hassle.

If not, consider selling the scooter here and buying another one back in South Africa.
