Hi people,
As the fallout from the post-Quill Lab craze rolls on, a homeless but very cheerful yellow Lab walked up to me to chat last week while I was walking my dog. I noticed he had a peculiar walk, and fearing he had some type of injury, took him in to check out his condition and ID.
Unfortunately no ID, but on the bright side he wasn’t hurt either. In fact he is in very good condition. The only bugger is that when he was a little puppy there must have been some accident involving his right rear leg. It was not treated and hence resulted in a sort of messed up realignment when it healed on its own. So, he walks kind of funny. Other than that he is perfect. He has no discomfort at all due to his uniqueness and easily is one of the most gentle and loving dogs to grace the earth. He’s just a big lug. He plays really well with both cats and other dogs at the clinic and he is extremely well behaved. He’s about 1 year old and we just got him fixed and gave him his shots.
Right now he’s at the clinic in Tienmu area of Taipei, but we urgently need anybody interested in taking him for walks, or fostering him, or giving him a home. I promise you he is an angel. Every bone and tendon in his body is made of love. I will take some photos over the weekend, but in the meantime…if you have some free time to help this dog and could take him for walks, or foster him or would be interested in adopting him or finding him a home, please give me a call at 0916 137 942 or send me a PM.
Alright, as promised here are a couple of pics of this bundle of joy…
In the space of a week the poor guy has been neutered, vaccinated and even donated some blood for an emergency, so he could use a little cheer. If you would like to make friends with this gentle and loyal companion or would like to:
take him for walks,
foster him,
help find him a home or
would be interested in adopting him…
please call me up or send me a PM and we can get started.
Eric, where are you located? I don’t know if I can help or not but I’m going to broach it with the wife tonight. We have a yard, and countryside within walking distance, but we also have an 80-lb yellow 2-year-old lab as well, who can sometimes be a bit aggressive toward other dogs, especially big males.
If there’s any way we can work something out, though, I’ll be in touch as soon as I can. That dog’s a beauty – almost as handsome as our Baloo. How much does he weigh?
Hi Sandman, I’m in Mucha but the dog is in Tienmu. Thanks for looking for an openinig. That’s very kind.
He’s about 35kgs., or more or less the same size as your boy. I was supposed to have a temp fosterer days ago but she just keeps putting it off. I would much prefer the more reliable dog-loving forumosans.
The dog is at the Yang Ming clinic in Tien Mu and I’ll be heading there tonight so if anybody wants to stop by and rap or play with this gorgeous hunk by all means feel free to go on your own or give me a call. The address is No.1-6 tienmu East Rd., right on the northeastern corner of Chungshan N. and Tienmu E. Rds.
During this period we’ve had the chance to watch him play with toddlers, other dogs and even cats. Nothing to fear folks, if you need a good friend for a few minutes or for the rest of your life, you know where to go.
Come check him out!
OK Eric, I’ve taken a note of your tel. no. I have to work tomorrow, so Sunday would be the earliest I could do anything. I’ll call you. Are you involved with Sean at Animals Taiwan in any way? The reason I ask is that I’ll have to insist on an “out” clause if the dogs really don’t get along with each other.
I already spoke to Jojo and she’s also willing to consider giving fostering a go.
That’s great Sandman. I fully understand. Not asking for a commitment or anything like that. It’s really great of you and Jojo to be willing to lend a hand. I’m gonna send you a PM right away so we can square away any details.
You mentioned Sean. Well you already know that Sean and all of the volunteers at Animals Taiwan are doing a remarkable job in really such a short history. I guess you could say I am involved since they are holding two dogs via my SOS - sorry about that Sean - one was barely able to move and days if not hours from dying and the other is now fully recovered from abuse and mental torture. They are both thriving! Sorry, I’m getting off topic. But, it is worth mentioning that those guys carry a big load and give it all they’ve got
Back on topic, I will have my phone switched on 24 hours if anybody has any questions about this lab or wanting to lend a hand. He’s a beauty and dying to meet ya!
Oh, you’re talking about Laifu. Nice dog. Met him last weekend. I’ll call you tomorrow at some point after I’ve spoken face-to-face with 'er indoors and shown her the pics and this story.
As usual, no promises, but I’m very hopeful we can help in some capacity.
While our friend was pulling me through the neighborhood park tonight, I was thinking if this guy weighs 36kgs. he must be packing some dynamite because a little on the small side. So, when we arrived back at the clinic I asked Dr. Yang to re-weigh him. It turns out he is only 26kgs. so either he lost a lot of weight overnight or Dr. Yang has beenn working too hard.
Sorry about the misinformation. He could still be a growing boy!
So sorry, Eric, but I can’t take this dog right now – we jsut have too much on our plates as it is. I’m searching right now for suitable fosterers and have at least two possibilities. Meanwhile, if anyone else can help this beautiful dog, now’s the time to step up.
Really happy to report that thanks to Sandman and Mrs. Sandman’s magic over the weekend , we have a couple of caretakers for our friendly lab right now. After some nifty coordination, they managed to set up a great interview between the lab and the caretakers. If they hit it off with him as much as Baloo did, who knows, this could also turn out to be a happy beginning.
