It’s become too obvious about bots, AI and other forms of fake influence. Shit, even back in the Diablo 2 days, bots ran the games. This is a decades old problem. And yet, people still refuse to read from the horses mouth…but prefer to get their “info” from opinions that are likely not even human . These debates happen even here, on repeat.
A fun example, only because it points out how painfully obvious this is. Note the different genres. This is just a random search, less than 2 minutes. Same exact programing.
We need to come back to reading and checking original sources. This music example is really just a click bait example of how dumb we have become (ahem, political discussions…). But it extrapolates to ends, research, data, science etc etc. What other overtly obvious examples does everyone see commonly that are trying to yank on our emotions without actually being human or having a piont?
Or, maybe we have become a sheep species and this is how it ends haha my money is on fake shit. Post examples. Without bias.
this isn’t really the best example considering there’s an immense heap of bot created “content” on YouTube. I know there’s a ton of nominally “educational” stuff, i.e. how to do certain math problems and the like.
Instagram is full of it too. Bunch of nameless faceless accounts with 1000 followers posting inflammatory comments. Maybe just trolls, but they all seem too similar.
I’m not limiting to just this of course. Post other examples of clear fake crap.
To be fair and to remain as agnostic as i can, I am giving a 0.01% chance humanity might actually be that dumb and have become total sheep. But my money is on bots. Ie. Programs.
Yeah, those “still listening to this in 20XX” comments on YouTube go back way before AI chatbots became mainstream…
What difference does it even make if those comments were posted by bots or real humans who are getting paid to write those comments…?
The effect is the same: People’s sense of reality gets distorted and their world-wide slowly shifts into believing what someone wants them to believe.
Even with “real” influencers, people suddenly believe that everyone is earning millions per year (easy to get rich by investing into crypto! no need to go to school! Just start an OF!), look like a supermodel and is traveling all the time (and those are still rather “harmless” compared to more political false narratives being spread).
With AI, this has just become much cheaper and much more effective (I remember reading a studying that AI is more effective in convincing people than actual people). Scary times…
Makes me wonder how much are the consumers paying out of pocket for large companies to advertise on ghost platforms without actually checking what’s going on. Seems like the definition of retarded. Or, at least, shafted. At least the bots don’t pay out of pocket for this stupidity.
The narcissistic/OCD/ego aspect of humans are hard to deny. The grammar nazis are the old school online ones it seems. It’s just easier to move on and not support a fake industry, even if it means not voicing ones “trigger” that really doesnt matter nor does anyone care about.
Those puzzles/questions etc that make people think their answers are important are another pretty cringe one. All to just mine ones data. It’s interesting how grown adults feel the need to comment in a simple math problem put in a .jpeg format, on a platform overtly about narcissism and that no one cares about…other than their own posts. From an psychological and anthropological point of view it’s truly fascinating. From a social evolution aspect it’s one of the few things that legitimately worries me.
