We will all be here this Saturday if anyone wants to come out to Ying Ge and slop some clay on potter’s wheels and see what happens.
There are lots of places to choose from and I can pick up the finished pots later on in the week for you if you’d like. I’ve never done this so I’ll have to check on the prices, but shouldn’t be too expensive. Would love to see some fellow posters and kids IRL.
Also, the “Old Street” has undergone a renovation recently, so if you haven’t been out in a while, it should look swankier. Some good eats too.
Of course you childless folk are invited too.
There is also a nice little hike across the street from the Train Station if the weather is mild.
JD, I have connections in one of the pottery stores … a big one … they have around 50 wheels and lot’s of tables to do some clay work … and staff to teach you, I could make my hands dirty too and show some real pot making a small coffee shop is also inside …
If I know how many people are coming I could make a reservation … they could put a discount in …
JD, I spoke with my wife about this this morning. We would love to come out, but our girl has swimming lesson on Saturday mornings, but we can be in Ying-Ge by early afternoon. Is 2 pm too late?
We’re thinking about it, but after two weeks of midterms, I’m not sure whether Dragonbabe will be up for it, especially if it involves getting up early. Ok, and it’s a long way to go and we’re lazy. But it does sound fun.
I still have to confirm with da babe, but we (party of two) could probably also travel via the Songshan station, so this schedule will be useful. Maybe we could take the same train. I’ll send you my phone no. via PM; I recommend everyone give theirs to JDSmith too, just in case we have any no-shows, late arrivals or lost people who want to catch up with the group.

I love pottery! Fun, fun fun![/quote]
Cool, that would be fun – traveling out there together on the train and doing the pottery thing in Ying Ge. I hope you guys can make it. My daughter and I are 95% certain (the wife’s iffy, but my girl and I are going regardless).

Chris?
Could be over 10 people; why not reserve 6-7 tables and alternate?
I assume one can play with the clay there without using a wheel? I expect that might be a little too much for the MTkid and Connelkid . . . and probably some of us adults.
Typically they have some tables where you can just nie1 (pinch; form by hand) the clay, for small kids. Wheel throwing is a bit challenging, even for adults. They might not be willing to fire the ‘pinched’ stuff, though, since air bubbles are more likely, and then pieces may burst in the kiln.
