I’ve lived in Taiwan for nearly 5 years and married to a local for 4. During this time, I’ve been using TaiwanMobile’s prepaid service, but I’ve recently decided to switch to a postpaid plan. I checked FarEastOne and they told me that I couldn’t sign up with them because my arc is sponsored by marriage rather than my employer. Has anyone had a similar experience and is this correct?
That seems really ridiculous that they even bother to check the type of ARC you have. I would suggest trying again at a larger corporate branch, like maybe the one behind Shinkong Mitsukoshi at the Taipei Main Station MRT stop.
Meanwhile, when I signed up for service with Taiwan Mobile back in September they tied me down with a 2-year contract even though then I had less than 2 years left on my ARC…
That is 100% bs. I suggest you go back and ask them to show why this is the case. Or threaten a law suit… Most smokiness at fet are under educated and seriously under trained … But seriously fet doesn’t provide good coverage except in urban areas. Suggest cht … Might also want to make sure you have 1 yr left on your card. Sometimes that is a problem.

Might want to watch for those end of contract early charges…
Thanks for the replies. I eventually just went to Taiwan Mobile and got an unlimited plan, no questions asked, no co-signer either.
