It does certainly seem the food sourcing in Taiwan is getting worse. Same on the wholesale b2b end. Same goes for just the weather pattern changes and domestically grown foods, much harder now and way more costly for the producers. FDA is also making it harder for the companies. Which should be made more public and applauded in terms of food safety, but everyone just looks at price and companies revert to selling processed slop more and more. Not looking good, in my opinion.
I remember when that particular store opened. They even offered free shuttle service. The prices were great, and it was great to have a discount retailer (aka Costco) in the city center. However, over the years, the shuttles stopped running, and the quality of their offerings starting to go downhill. I remember going through the frozen seafood section and you could see a lot of the stuff was not fresh. There was also a lot of rotting stuff in the produce section. After the change to PX ownership, I was pleasantly surprised by the changes…the stuff seems more fresh, and the people working there seem happier.
Good news: English was added back to the cashiers at RT-Mart Bitan!
Also, it seems I was blessed by the gods today, because I found (frozen) gnocchi. ![]()
if you miss the good ol’ RT Mart, come over to Mainland China.
What’s that supposed to mean?
Maybe he thinks we all live in Kinmen and can take one of the three small links to Xiamen to go shopping where RT-Mart continues to thrive? ![]()
Guy
I think my yogurt and frozen gnocchi will expire while getting back to Xindian. ![]()
