They have embedded their latest album so you can listen to it while exploring the website.
Their old website is pretty sweet too. It’s a 3D plane with animated icons all over that represent different parts of the site. Find it here at gomez.co.uk/archive/site/flash.asp?goto=
I like this on for electro. Just because I am an electro freak.
Also, atomfilms.shockwave.com has great indie music videos (in addition to hundreds of great indie shorts, all for free).
The funniest music site on the web:
Google: (the name of your favorite band), site:http://www.freakytrigger.co.uk
and I’m sure she’s covered them, too.

She’s missed Gomez for now. I guess that’s saying something considering how they are a British band with a decent-sized following. But she went after Elvis Costello. I guess she’s not too ignorant of greatness.
Magnatune Lots of interesting streaming sounds here. Check out Tilopa if you like Japanese flute and need something calm.
Tigersushi Incredible eclectic collection and streaming radio if you are using windows.

The hilarious author of I HATE MUSIC spouts invective about musicians exactly like a certain British managing editor at a certain local newspaper does about pan-blue politicians and, well, just about everything.
For example:
THE PIXIES
If you’re going to be tough on grunge, then you have to be tough on the causes of grunge. In the firing line, the name dropped, the reason we got into that whole damn plaid shirted mess in the first place can be squarely levelled at The Pixies. Hey, they were just four goofy kids… ad nauseum

Select phrases if you want to talk like that:
wretched piece of tripe
a reedy whine that has [plural noun] howling for mercy
despite the fact that its a PISS-POOR LOAD OF OLD HORSESH**
wouldn’t know a [insert noun] if it bit him/her
What can you say about a [noun] that…
Problem is with any kind of
Show me a… and I’ll show you a…
can’t possibly imagine how a … can get so …
delighted to know (sarcastic)
thrilled to hear (sarcastic)
who am I to argue with …
The final insult
and a vocab list:
anthropomorphic
arse (or anything anal is good to make a point reek)
didactic
dreadful
feeble
git
irrelevant
obscure
pouty
preachy
sophomoric
trite
And to satisfy my 80s pop music itch: stockaitkenwaterman.com/

For those of you that can read Korean,
You have EVERYTHING there. When I say, EVERYTHING, i mean EVERYTHING.
I can’t read Korean, but I just typed in something obscene and hit the button that looked like ‘search’ and got a bunch of results.
Gilles Peterson’s got some nice house on his show this week:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio1_aod.shtml?gilles
But mostly he plays some soulful jazz. Nice one at 8:30 ‘Your girl’s been cheatin’ on you…’ And some weird rap song at the beginning (8:05) ‘You think you are ‘dar’???’ What’s ‘dar’ mean?
I’m a big fan of mp3 blogs.
One of my favourites is The Red Ferret Journal (“One million free and legal music tracks”) which lists scores of links to sites offering free and legal mp3s.
An other music blog with tons of songs and real nice music at http://www.myjukebox.blogspot.com

Want to see 23,000 albums for .99 cents?
Go to Amazon.com and do a music search for the label “Phantom”. Sort results using Price: Low to High.
It appears that they are dumping a lot of CDs on the market; I’m not sure why. Perhaps the label is going bust and/or they will soon be released in better versions and Amazon is just clearing inventory. Another theory: Phantom is a grey-market label that has gotten into trouble with the law (all of their titles, AFAIK, were originally released on some other labels). So the existing inventories were only allowed to be sold for a nominal charge.
And it’s not all just junk. I found this link on another music forum and this is what one poster said that he put in his shopping cart, all for .99 cents.
