FBI worries Ring doorbells are spying on the police

Really?

So not a policy analysis, but instead very likely BS published by The Intercept to bolster BLM and “defund the police” movements in the US.

I am going to need a helluva lot more evidence than this before my pulse rises even a beat. To me this reeks of bovine excrement so far.

The document in question is a technical analysis bulletin, offering an overview of the opportunities and challenges for police from home security systems and smart doorbells.

I don’t really understand the article. It seems that someone was using his doorbell to watch the police while they were outside (inside?) his apartment? Seems a pretty reasonable way to be using the camera in my opinion… (in the case that you have the doorbell/camera already installed and the police are in/outside your apartment)

Also, it seems a bit…odd that law enforcement agencies are apparently taking the opinion that it’s okay for them to use someone’s doorbell camera for spying, but not for the owner of the doorbell camera to use it. Have I misunderstood something here?
