Feliway for cats

Hi,

I’m looking for a product called Feliway, apparently it comes in either spray or diffuser. I’ve read a lot about it and would like to get some for my cat, but haven’t seen it in any petstore in Taichung. Anyone saw it in Taipei? or any Taiwanese online store?

It calms cats down. It is like a spary or an aromatic plug in.

Hi there, I bought the diffuser at Yang Ming Vet in Tianmu. It is on Tianmu East Road #1-6, right by the circle. $1600, you plug it in, it lasted about six weeks. Our cat didn’t give a sh!t and still peed in that room if we forgot to close it. It might work for your cat. Good luck.

Yes, as with catnip, all cats may react differently.

My cat doesn’t give a s**t about catnip. Sniffs it, then goes away with an attitude that says “You want me to like that?? You’re a fool…”.

If you’re interested, you could try valerian extract. Probably available from anywhere that sells essential oils (although don’t try presenting your cat with undiluted essential oil - it’s too concentrated).

What effect will it have on her? Calm her down? I feel she csn use it at times…

Dunno, try it and let me know  I was looking to buy some seeds but never got around to it.

Apparently it has about the same effect as catnip - but it’s not the same chemical, so she might respond to valerian if she doesn’t like catnip.

I might just give up. TBH she only pisses me off when she scratches the sofa, but her playfulness is otherwise adorable.

Thanks for the tip, though.

Thanks! 1600 is a lot though!
I have just found some on yahoo auctions:

All the books about cat behavior suggest using Feliway. This is like artificial pheromone, such as cats put on things while scratching or rubbing things. This tells them this area is theirs and calms them down. The Feliway itself should not really solve a behavioral problem, but just calm the cat down so you can try to train it, which might be impossible while she’s stressed (cannot focus on your training then). My cat is always jumpy about the sounds of the road outside, I was thinking to get it to make him more calm at home.

The reviews are good and bad, but overall behaviorist does strongly recommend it as a help.
