I remember someone mentioning the existence of such way way back… probably a few years ago. Did a search and got nada…
I’m looking for coconut cream for cooking… used in the Philippines quite a bit and I’m sure it could be had if there is a Filipino supermarket here in Taipei.
Zhongshan North Road Section 3 between Nongan Street (next street north from Minquan Road) and Minzu Road on the east side of the road. There’s 3 or 4 Filipino stores in the same area. This is just north of the area with all the wedding photo studios and Florida Bakery.
If that’s all you’re looking for, then, depending on where you are, Breeze Center may be more convenient than going all the way up to Tianmu. I know I’ve seen both coconut cream and cocout milk at Breeze, on top of a counter above the meats. And I would venture a guess that they also have it in the City Super on the B3 level in the new Sogo on Fu/hsing-Chung/hsiao.

It’s Filipino,not “philippino.”
You could also try for some coconut cream or milk at Thai stores or even places like Carrefour or RT Mart.
I buy coconut cream and light coconut milk at Carrefour, Welcome, RT mart, a local grocery store, and lots of other places. It’s worth checking out the Filipino store for weird condiments and stuff like that, though.
Does anyone knows where a supermarket with filipino food is in Taipei, near the 101??
Thanks![/quote]
I don’t know about any specific Filipino supermarkets, but in the basement of Taipei 101, alongside all the other food stalls, there’s a big supermarket called ‘Jason’s’ and they have pretty much everything. That might include what you’re looking for, too.
Most Filipino supermarkets -about 4 or 5- are located along Zhongshan North Road, close to Tatung University.
There are also two mixed Filipino-Indonesian goods stores at Taipei Main Station’s Underground Malls -one on the new side -furthest corner on the way past Starbucks-, one on the oldest one -the one you enter through exit 2 of the MRT.
Anything in particular you are looking for? I can ask my Filipino friends.

EEC-Elite Mart
No. 39, Zhongshan North Road Section 3
Taipei
02 2596 2889
EDIT: There was another, called Bing-Go, at #49, near the above. Among the goodies at these places we found beef bouillon cubes, shrimp bouillon cubes (both hard to find in Taiwan), corned beef, and annatto seed powder (for atsuete or achiote paste).
We also found a similar import store on Nangang Rd. in Nangang a few hundred km west of Carrefour and on the north side of the road, but it was primarily Thai with some Indonesian, not Filipino stuff.
There’s one along ZhongShan North Rd Sec.3 in between NongAn St. and Dehui St, there’s a Red signage store EEC Elite Express where they sell different Filipino stuffs as well as Indonesian and Vietnam but not much compare to Filipino products.
This is common in most grocery stores. RT mart in Tuchen always has it. I also see it at Wellcome and other smaller markets. A specialty market or upscale supplier is not needed. Just browse.
