Finding wild rice

Wellman’s sometimes has wild rice. Last time they only had it in a huge 3-lb. bag (for a whopping $850) but today I got some there for (I think?) NT$290 (about US$8.85) for a one-pound bag of California wild rice. Please add other locations here, including price & qty, if you see it somewhere. Thanks!

Wellman’s is a well-stocked, hole-in-the-wall import grocery store in Tianmu:
Wellman’s Market
472 Zhongshan North Road, Section 6,
between an oriental carpets place and a Subway (now Subber?), and just south of TAS
Tel: 2871-4454

This is the only other mention I could find on 'mosa:

I buy these at the “grain stall” in Nan Men Shi Chang (South Door Market) just next to CKS Memorial Hall station. That stall is towards the back of the market, past the “hanging dry meat” stalls. There are 3 sellers of dried goods, grains, dried/preserved fruits, and strange cereals, on a corner. [/quote]

What defines wild rice? around our complex out here are some really quaint farms consisting of a few paddies each. I reckon you might be able to get some rice direct from the farmers at the right time of the year.

Is wild rice in the same category as wild oats?

 Wild rice isn’t a kind of rice.

wild rice: NOUN: 1. A tall aquatic annual grass (Zizania aquatica) of North America, bearing edible grain. 2. The grain of this plant. It’s used in rice pilaf, for example.

But I imagine you’re just pulling my leg.

there you go, so we are not talking about rice at all then. :s
