Go onto Facebook and type in “Need a Sub Teacher or Want a Sub Teacher in Taiwan” you can find lots of sub work to keep you going, also they have a few permanent positions going.
But I do have money to keep afloat for some time. The main priority is securing a work permit before my 60-day visitor visa expires. What has me concerned is that I had anticipated a large number of openings in mid August. But there are just a few postings each day to the tealit board.
Previously, I applied for jobs in Korea whilst in North America. Eventually, I accepted a position and taught in Korea. During that course of finding work I scanned over scores of openings each day posted to Dave’s ESL job board. Finding work there was very easy even from overseas, and several public schools offered to hire me. I could have found work in a private academy with even less effort. And if I had been in Korea already, finding a good position would have been nearly effortless. Then, I had only adult tutoring experience and an online TEFL certificate.
I understand that in the greater Seoul area there is much more demand for native English teachers, but when I visit the tealit board, it suggests there’s a dramatic difference. But I’ve seen plenty of English academies in Taipei. So I’m slow to believe this.
