Just last year, I was still using Firefox 3.x, which had been around a number of years. Then along came Firefox 4. A few months after that, Firefox 5. Now, just a couple months later, Firefox 6a Beta.
Why so many major releases, rather than minor revisions? Why not Firefox 4.0, then 4.1, then 4.2?
I got tired of not having video or Flash or anything on Firefox and am now using Chrome pretty much exclusively. Seems fine to me.

No matter how I try, I haven’t been able to get Chrome’s bookmark function to work. And it would be nice if Chrome actually had an effin’ menu. Plus, as far as I know, it doesn’t have an equivalent of AdBlock, which is something I absolutely luuurrrve about Firefox. And I have no problems whatsoever with video or Flash on Firefox.
Chrome remains my “emergency” browser, for use when Firefox misbehaves.
I agree with the many, many users that have been complaining about this incredibly stupid policy. First of all, because of the version checking, many extensions will automatically stop working with each new version. You can disable version checking, but then you’re on your own for figuring out which extensions are going to break because of some random change.
Second, the Firefox automatic update keeps trying to push “beta” versions to my browser (which I keep cancelling). If I want beta software then I will go and get it. Otherwise only stable, tested updates should be automatically pushed to my computer. I know Mozilla is going to claim that these “beta” versions are actually updates to existing code and more stable than the previous release, but that is just inappropriate use of the beta tag.
I still use Firefox, but I know the tide is shifting to Google Chrome, and this new release cycle is not helping.

To keep everyone happy they should have named the releases 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.0.2, etc…
