Well probably their house was on the line , everything .I think they sold their motor vehicles. While family had been dragged into it becomes a very pressurized stressful situation. I have seen it first hand myself yes they do use gangsters to push for debt repayment.
This family were just a regular familyz they got ripped in by very unscrupulous scammers who ‘pig butchered’ them. Many many people included smart people are fooled in a similar manner usually by ‘ friends ‘ and family members. In this case it was a hairdressers coworker who roped them all in.
I dunno about you but my experience has been the opposite.
I think Taiwanese people hate money and only take it if it’s easy.
I don’t fully understand the point you are making, but there is a clear interest (obsession?) with money in Taiwan.
It’s not really a difficult point, I just don’t think Taiwanese people prioritise money at all.

EDIT: I need to clarify here. I’m not having a go at Taiwanese people for being interested in money. It’s important for people to prioritise money for future retirement etc. I am interested in money.
I get what you are saying, but I do not think based off my experience that Taiwanese have any interest in making money beyond easy money or handouts.
