Five years on HSR Project - No ARC

I have been in Taiwan working for an international firm on High Speed Rail for the last 5 years on a visitors visa. usuall thing, visa runs every 60 or 30 days (firm pays for). visa letters state that financial and accomodation provided by the company and I always have a return ticket. have never been questioned at any visa office in manila, HK and bangkok, UK ever. I have never been questioned at immigration here in taipei with a passport thats filled with visas and stamps to the brim. sometime i come in on a normal 30day landing and not a word is said. when i apply for the visas i get a good one 90% of the time, multiple 60days.

I know i pay tax, every year the company gives me a blue tax certificate from the tax bureau. I even have a tax number. This compnay is a huge international firm.

Surlley the visa offices and immigration have me on record that i have been “working” here for five years, they are not stupid surley.

can anyone shed some light or anyone in the same situation. I gues that the company is providing all my financial needs and accomodation and that i am paying tax and am not a teacher they seem to ignore it?? or are my days numbered.

I have asked my firm about this and they dont seem to interested about getting ARC, I mean they pay for my visa runs and hotels. they have said that the immigration is no problem and told me not to worry, well after 5 years and not a word and going through immigration about to have cardiac arrest all the time, but the guys behind immigration just smile at me.

I was told that there are quite a few white collard workers and blue collard workers in the same boat??

Any Ideas?? :s

Not sure what your query is.

Do you want an ARC?

Is it about tax?

What is the problem?

Are you pissed off with getting visas no problem?

Seeing as the whole project is at least 18 months off schedule, I suspect you’ll be doing them visa runs for some time yet.

Tax is tax and immigration is immigration.

The authorities would only be bothered to research your tax history if there’s a damned good reason to do it.

You’re legally entitled to an ARC so for 5 years you put up with this?

5 weeks or a few months I could understand but 5 years is pure bollocks.

I know some of the railway guys who are here. It seems some are qualified for ARC’s and the ones who arent just work here illegally.

Seems that you have no problems with visa’s so that’s a good thing.

Your boss has good guanxi. No need to worry. You are, after all, working for the government.
