I always liked that in Europe, in theory at least, a club from some small village in the countryside could climb all the way up through the national leagues and, when reaching one of the top spots in the top league, play against the best teams in Europe. I always liked it better than the US model with drafts and lotteries etc. The way it works these days, it’s not likely to happen, but at least there is always the chance for underdogs. So I am not liking the idea of a super league. ---

Sport should always be about winning on merit. These 12 clubs don’t believe that. They want a guaranteed equivalent of a Champion’s League spot every season. They’re corporations, not clubs. ---
