Footie

I don’t know about attitude, but just want to clarify this: Not all Westerners are Americans and there is a BIG cultural difference between Americans and Europeans and between Europeans from different countries. Why do you people always mix that up!!!.. :raspberry:
Sure…and all that violence at ‘football’ matches, skinheads, etc. isn’t considered to be real violence is it? The only thing most of Europe is missing is the ‘gun toting’ part. The attitude is alive and well.
Spot the bloke who’s never been to a football match in Europe, anyone? :raspberry: :loco:

I guess the newspaper made up all those stories, huh? Naughty newspapers…you really want me to go to the trouble to search the archives for examples? :s
OK you win…a .35 second search came up with these…

ex.ac.uk/politics/pol_data/u … europe.htm
uefa.com/footballcentral/new … 83588.html
eveningtimes.co.uk/hi/sport/6013220.html
and then the riots…

Now let me ask…why would a sane individual go to a football match? :raspberry: :loco:

You are an idiot. How many football matches per week throughout the whole of Europe do you think there are? er, 12? Well over 300 pro and semi-pro in England alone!

I see tv footage of the US cops beating up blacks in LA, but I’m not stupid enough to think this is the norm throughout the US every day!

Like I said - save your preaching for something you actually know fuck all about! :raspberry:

Erase this and regain credibility. This isn’t a good way to start a rebuttal.

Ever hear about the difference between quality and quantity? And do you really think that the media reports on EVERY incident that occurs? Dude, c’mon european football fans have the bad rep, so just live with it. It might be unfair, but it isn’t gonna change. That’s like saying that Oakland Raiders fans are peace loving beatniks. (BTW, did you by any chance see the Oakland riots after the Super Bowl loss to Tampa? What an embarrassment to the NFL. :raspberry: )

Wrong. SOME groups of European fans have a bad rep. England and Holland spring to mind, but many, such as Scotland’s “tartan army” don’t, and god knows, those guys know ALL ABOUT defeat!

I watched loads of footie when I was young, and I never kicked anyone’s head in before, during or after a match.

Oh, right. So you were one of those guys who favoured a Stanley knife? Messier, but far less effort required.

Damn, I clicked on this hoping you were all talking about real footie :stuck_out_tongue:

Darts. The pub always had a spare set for a game after the match if you used yours on the ref.

Been to quite a few matches in DK top level…

They even let the supporters of the fighting teams stand together.

Nothing ever happened.

Wonder where they get it from?

Liverpool’s Michael Owen is traded to Real Madrid

I guess his contract was up at the end of the next season, so he may have been lost to Liverpool in any case. Still, he’s only 24 and obviously is extremely talented.

It’s also likely true that RM will use him like they did Beckham, as a marketing promotional tool, to increase the value of RM’s franchise. More directly, they’ll likely use his image to sell RM stuff, like jerseys, at premium prices worldwide.

Seems sad to me that Liverpool couldn’t manage to leverage Owen’s off-field value the same way as I’m sure RM will. Oh I nearly forgot, I’m sure Owen will score bunches of goals for RM next season, too.
