For all those that think Taiwan's fermented tofu is disgusting

Taiwanese stinky tofu sometimes smells like an unwashed public toilet. That’s first level.

Many tofu styles also use chemicals to process quicker than naturally fermenting. That’s second level.

So, some perspective on other Asian tofu processing haha

Personally, I have seen too many manufacturing facilities of tofu to want to eat any of it. I do sometimes out if uunger or being in groups, but, yeah :face_with_peeking_eye:

Many Taiwanese are crazy about stinky tofu. That’s their business, not mine.

In contrast, I like furu (腐乳) with stir fried veggies including water spinach. Here’s a nice take on this approach to Chinese cooking written by the great Clarissa Wei:

Not a fan of tofu either, I prefer Kimchi.

Good kimchi is very nice indeed.

My favorite part of stinky tofu (fried) is the Taiwanese kimchi. Sometimes I just buy a bag, sans tofu , and bring it back for a sweet snack.

I watched that randomly last night actually, it was quite interesting! Also popped up in my YouTube feed.

Tofu reminds me of a yeast infection.

Ya, that’s how I saw it. I like to let youtube randomly suggest things. Wouldn’t of found it otherwise.

The burning of proper plastic for cooking though, yikes.

I watched it and I still think that Taiwan’s fermented tofu is disgusting.

Not burnt with plastic fire disgusting though, right?

Try the places in Taiwan that are very lightly fermented and fried. Never go soup or soft. If you like fried tofu, the not so stinky fried stinky tofu is better as the texture pops more.
