Does anyone remember those foreigner mail-order bride shows that used to be all over late night tv? I did not understand Chinese back then, but it was so tacky. I girl would be asked to change poses, turn around & etc… a phone number would appear on bottom of the screen.
Anybody have any old videos. Some of my new New Comer friends and family back home could not believe what I was talking about.
Was that mail-order brides? I thought it was like, sexy 900 number/possibly prostitution stuff.

I think both kinds. Or possibly the mail-order brides thing was a simple scam.
That kind of advert was usually broadcast illegally over the top of a paid-for advertising slot. It still happens, I think, in areas where the regulators aren’t really paying attention, but there seems to have been a clampdown (or possibly just an outcry from people paying money for airtime).
I remember that. It was the best. My gf, now wife, couldn’t understand why I thought it was so interesting.
They made this illegal and marriage brokering in general in Taiwan. You used to be able to see banners and ads for places everywhere for Vietnamese, Chinese, Filipino, and Indonesian wives, virginity guaranteed. I’d say Taiwan has gotten a bit boring…
I want to see it again… I did exist. People said I’m nuts. No all you have is 900 number adds. Actually, not that much anymore. Just sexy girls playing “paper scissor stone” with high-school boys. I think there is some stripping involved… Anyone got a way to video tape that before that too disappears. No nose bleeds…
I’m actually a fan of Japanese cartoons but I never got the nosebleed gag. Does that really happen to Asian High School boys?
