Foreigners Need to Pay 20% Tax From Now On?

Hi All,

Today i got information from my HR in my company that, starting from Jan
all Foreigners working in Taiwan need to pay 20% Tax.

As i got my Salary for last month (Jan) already, i am in due to pay the last
months Tax.

Can anyone got the same Information ? and is this true ?

It’s the Taiwanese governments way of deterring too many of us from coming I think.

Techie[/quote]It’s kind of true. Beginning January 1st 2009, all foreigners will be withheld at 20% tax until July where the tax withholding rate will drop back to regular withholding rates. How much you must [color=#FF0000]“PAY”[/color] in taxes are dependent upon how much you make and when you leave. Here are two threads where this has been discussed extensively.
