The Proper Disposal of Finished Cigarettes In Public Contest

Three words: Betel Nut Fling.

Xiao jie scooter jumping (as suggested by joesax and endorsed by frankformosa):

When you start your scooter, make contestants jump on as you go past. Don’t slow down if she struggles with mounting. Refuse to stop or to go back if she falls off. Points for originality, mount, dismount, and of course, technique.

Non-staring marathon

Athletes have to walk a marked 50km route through the city while being subjected to increasingly strange-looking sights (foreigners included). Time penalties apply to all stares, with instant disqualification for touching. Winner is first to reach the finish line with eyes firmly fixed on destination. Sunglasses, cell phones, and other distraction aids prohibited.

Oops - double post due to posting glitch.

But I’ve just thought of the foreigner’s decathlon, where the competitors have to travel the length and breadth of Taipei to assemble a basket of ten favourite supermarket items from home, using only public transport…

speed moving into and out of a 6 floor walk up with all your furnature and and your fridge on your back. Moving teams from each country. The winners break fewest household items and are disqualified for breaking their backs. And of course, there will be at least 20 pairs of shoes on the stairs and each flight will have a different number of stairs and stairs of different depths.

Wheel chair course where we try to get around the city in a chair, over uneven sidewalks, in the middle of traffic, three blocks to enter the MRT and riding up or down with an elevator full of ladies with their shopping bags. Then we must exit three blocks from our destination because that’s the nearest elevator full of ladies. This will be a timed event with points taken away if we give bad looks or make rude comments back to anyone.

The “eat all the free food handed-out in the supermarkets as fast as you can” race.

The “stepping off the bus without getting run over by a speeding moped” contest. Last person standing wins.

The “Fit as many people as you can on one moped” competition - with its sister event - the “how many gas canisters can you fit on one moped” contest…

Events, where Taiwanese would certainly be in for some medals:

The Shrimp Fishing Contest!

The contest will last 2 weeks (the usual time frame of the olympics) How many shrimps can you catch ? You are not allowed to talk. Don’t fall off your 5cms-tall stool.

The garbage bag-throwing contest

Throw your garbage bag into the opened rear of a moving garbage-truck.

  • Government garbage-bag: 50 points
  • Non-government-bag: 100 points

Ping-pong!
