Free Wave/MP3 editor?

I need something that does what my old Nero Wave Editor did.

Be able to split waves into smaller bits. Cut/paste and join together. Amplify.

Most importantly, must be able to encode MP3-wav and back.

Must be quick and easy. I need to use it urgently and I don’t have much time.

Any reco’s much appreciated.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I think may do the trick.

audacity.sourceforge.net/

Thanks for a superfast reply.

That looks good. I’m trying it.

That works great. Looks to be better (perhaps much better) than what I was using before.

Note: If you want to be able to save files as MP3s, you also have to download an encoder called LAME. It’s the 2nd link on the page that MK provided.

Easy to download, install and use. That took me less than 10 minutes to download and install both, and figure out the program enough to edit a song and save it.

Glad I could help. :sunglasses:

There’s another very handy program, mp3gain for equalizing the relative volume of a batch of files. Handy if you’re making mixes.
