I am visiting taipei for the first time, just wondering if anyone can recommend me to any good not too dodgy jap restaurants with fresh sashimi, price isn’t a worry, just as long the place is reputable and sashimi is fresh, cheers.

sashimi restaurant, 3rd floor of large building on An Dong Gie behind 100 FuHsing South Road (western side of the street) fronts on to a small park with swings, etc. garish and very large signage means you can’t miss it. much more than sashimi, though.
or at street level in the same building, a much smaller place with essentially just basic sashimi, and one third the price, and one tenth the ambience…

of course, it’s in some kind of chinese transliteration.
that’s not going to be a problem. there are hundreds of japanese restuarants with perfectly fresh sashimi, and thousands of taiwanese seafood restaurants that serve it too.
Reviving this old thread. Any recommendations? I want good stuff. There used to be two places by my office but they closed.
So far, EN Japanese restaurant (in Sogo) has been my favorite.
Some people say to avoid sashimi in summer. Do you guys agree?
Price range?
The EN place comes in at 3-4,000 NT for four (well our six-year-old barely eats). A bit more with drinks, of course, but that’s not a big consideration because I’m happy with beer and my wife is the designated driver when I drink.
I’m okay with that price range. I might be willing to go higher for something really special. Let me know what your favorite place is and you can also recommend something a bit in the above range. I don’t need any fusion or anything gimmicky. Just some good sashimi that is fresh.
Lot of small Japanese style places Nanjing/Linsen area where you tell them how much you want to spend and they prepare all special in front of you.
Starts around $1500 up $3000 or more per person.

I think starts from 1.5/2k, can specify price limit when booking seats. The Google review score average are dragged down by some kind of building dispute and isn’t reflective of food quality :).
I have heard they are very good and it’s on my list.
You will not regret it, should request A-Cheng specifically for the bossman to prepare for you if you can at booking.

There are six Japanese restaurants on that one block.
Went there and it’s fully booked on weekends. Very good business. I just had a takeout. I was surprised how heavy was the deluxe chirashi is. And I thought they gave me the wrong order. lol.
