The lady was asking about this time of the year.

I guess guavas and Haribo Gold bears are also available now. And Costco sells canned whipped cream.

lady? not salad? this thread is lurching dangerously, for one just about fruit.

passion fruit good
marshies, M&Ms - shurely not.

peaches - good call
strawbs - go soggy?

Apple ( option: Fruit Salad in can Del Monte )

This thread reminds me of the difference between knowledge and wisdom

  • Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit
  • Wisdom is not putting it in your fruit salad

500 g (1 lb 2 oz) watermelon, diced

250 g (9 oz) honeydew melon, diced

1/2 small pineapple, chopped

1 mango, diced

250 g (9 oz/1 2/3 cups) strawberries, halved

3 tablespoons small mint sprigs

Lemon grass syrup

125 ml (4 fl oz/1/2 cup) lime juice

45 g (1 1/2 oz/1/4 cup) soft brown sugar

1 lemon grass stem, white part only, finely sliced

2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger

1 vanilla bean, split

1.Place the fruit and mint in a bowl and mix gently.
2.To make the syrup, put the lime juice, sugar and 125 ml (4 fl oz/1/2 cup) water in a small saucepan and stir over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Add the lemon grass, ginger and vanilla bean. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the syrup is reduced and slightly thickened.
3.Remove the vanilla bean, pour the syrup over the fruit and refrigerate until cold.
