Fulong sand sculpture festival

Has anyone been to the 2011 Fulong sand sculpture festival? I have heard about it in the news, but i want to know if it is really worth it… any testimonials?

I also want to know because it’s usually in April and that is pretty soon.

Went there with kids about 2 years ago.
Extremely worth it.
Many many sand sculptures to view and take pics of up close.
Can take TRA train out to Fulong Station.
Couple of 7-Elevens there.
Go in morning to beat crowd and heat.
We did it in June and survived.

I went a few years back. It’s just as they say: Lots of sand, lots of fun!

Definitely worth a trip. The sculptures are always really impressive.

And it’s Fulong beach! You can’t go wrong…unless you forget to put on sunscreen.

I would get a hotel there and make a weekend trip out of it.
Wake up nice and early and watch the sunrise and spend the morning there.

Beach needs a cleanup.

We’re doing a beach cleanup this Sunday 2-4PM, not in Fulong, though, but at Linshanbi Beach (麟山鼻沙灘) near Baishawan (GC858MG Coastal Cleanup at Linshanbi ( ☉_☉)≡☞o──♻️ (Cache In Trash Out Event) in Taiwan created by JoyChang). Everyone is welcome to join :slightly_smiling_face:

So if the judging is in April, what is left the rest of the time. The website says it goes until August. Don’t t they disappear after each rain? What is there to see in June?

As far as I understand, they treat the surface of the sculptures somehow, so that they are more stable in rain and wind. But not sure how long they last. I’ve been a few times, liked it, but no idea how long before or after the judging that was…

I saw it mid-late June two years ago.
All sculptures were still there, quite impressive.
Go early in the day before noon.
