Definitely me as a teacher early on. I wised up and stopped shelling out my own money for class parties long ago though (especially when a colleague pointed out that I may have subconsciously been doing it in order to win their favor and increase my teacher evaluations). Still sometimes use my own money for classroom resources (eg: air conditioning card, white board markers, etc) which is very annoying.
What is an air conditioning card?
My university charges for air conditioning if you can believe it (it’s Taiwan so I’m sure you can). So you put money on a card and swipe it to activate an air conditioning system that slowly saps the money on said card. When it runs out, the air conditioner switches off! Sometimes I have students pool their money for a card, but the cheap ones complain about it.
Wonder if it would be cheaper to buy a portable air-conditioning unit and stick the pipe out the window…. You could disguise it to look like an overhead projector.
Nah, I’m not going through all that. 400 NTD keeps air con going for a few weeks. Not great but better than lugging around a portable air con unit.
What abt a handheld electric fan
Not a bad idea, but fans just can’t compete with A/C units.
