The “swimming pool smell” is chloramines, not chlorine. Actual chlorine smells a lot scarier.
For the record:

But is the tap water “chlorine smell” also from chloramines?
No, because there are no suitable … um, organic molecules for the chlorine to react with.
EDIT: just checked, chloramines are (in some countries) deliberately added to tap water instead of actual chlorine or sodium hypochlorite. I never knew that …
