When you think of it, in the old days people were starving most of the time, so I expect a lot of people to have tried a lot of weird things like sucking rocks or eating grass or whatever, most of them dying but the few survivors going “hey, I ate that rock’s snot and I’m still alive!” or “hey, I sucked that cow’s titty and I feel satiated!”
