A theory that Iâve come to accept is that Columbus probably lied about finding Asia or knew his measurements were wrong at some point if not from the start. He had been sailing since childhood and knew the Atlantic well. And he supported himself selling maps and charts most of his life so he wasnât ignorant of where things should be.
I find it hard to believe he was that idiotic that he didnât realize he didnât get to Asia at some point. It was better for him if everyone believed it.
