That’s why I’m voting for her in 2020. I got dibs on a Malibu beach house.

I’m afraid that once the glorious socialist revolution takes place, the following will be your more likely accommodation:

Sorry, we have to “respect the process.”

do you get that in canada as well or do you have a decent voting system?

Western Canada gets BTFO by eastern Canada. By the time I get to the polling station after work to cast my vote, the new prime minister is already giving his victory speech.

Does this mean your vote for Trudeau didn’t count? :open_mouth:

We don’t vote for the PM. We only vote for the candidates of our riding. Winner takes all. If your candidate loses, your vote is a waste.

Yeah. I was just making a bad joke about @overnightoats666 being a Trudeau supporter. Thanks for stepping on my punchline. :sunglasses:

I did not know that Canada’s first differently-abled PM was a member of our humble forum. I feel a case of the warm fuzzies coming on!

Are you kidding? Those years of intense martial arts training obviously paid off. Not many people can do sexy while falling down a flight of stairs.

Australia, Israel, Mexico, the Palestinian Authority, Russia, Taiwan, and the United States offered international assistance in battling the fire, though the offers were turned down by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau said that while the offers were appreciated, they were unnecessary as firefighters from other Canadian provinces were gaining control of the situation.[47][48]

South Africa sent 301 firefighters at the request of the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre at the end of May.[49] The firefighters were trained during the month of April at a boot camp, in order how to learn to use special hoses instead of the leather padded wooden sticks known as “firebeaters” they typically use in their home country due to a lack of water.[50] Less than a week after being deployed the South Africans went on strike over a wage dispute and were demobilized. Alberta Premier Rachel Notley vowed to address the issue and ensure that the firefighters were paid a minimum of CA$11.20 per hour as required by the province’s labour laws, rather than the CA$15 per day allowance specified in their contract with their South African employer.[51]

Sweeping through Fort McMurray, the wildfire destroyed approximately 2,400 homes and buildings. Another 2,000 residents in three communities were displaced after their homes were declared unsafe for reoccupation due to contamination. The fire continued to spread across northern Alberta and into Saskatchewan,[14] consuming forested areas and impacting Athabasca oil sands operations. With an estimated damage cost of C$9.9 billion, it was the costliest disaster in Canadian history.
