I’m surprised at the cost of decent size planters here vs the cost of living. Does anyone know where I can buy wholesale a load of decent size oblong planters and compost - or has anyone else recently given up gardening/going outside/mobility and doesn’t need their supplies any more?
I’ve not long arrived and (yes, I know this isn’t London) I was always able to find similar stuff being given away in London (or “Up-Cycled” as the people with skinny jeans and oversized beards call it).
I havent seen any scientific evidence, havent looked either, but have heard a million times those styrofoam materials degrade and leach into soils. So i personally wouldnt grow food in them without looking into it. Just to be sure.
I have used them in the past a lot for ornamentals. Work ok but are pretty ugly and get dusty in the UV. Probably not the best environmentally. Also great for aloe vera, if youre white this will come in handy here…
I have indeed been there but thank you @tempogain, they certainly had a different pricing structure to the bigger flower market in the centre, orchids were more expensive but a fairly sizeable rosemary plant was dirt cheap.
