Should we bring a gas grille to Taipei? We have a portable little cuisinart grille that runs off small and large gas tanks. Will we have any trouble finding tanks that fit the grille? Is this a good thing to bring? We envision using it when we go camping or hit the beach if the sun comes out during our three year contract.
Well, I’ve seen 4 high…ya, 4 of the big boys with a home made rack inserted.
I give those gents a very wide berth when I hear/see them in traffic.
(be one hell of a boom!)[/quote]
I’ve even seen a truck full of these and the driver is smoking while driving these bombs on wheels…
I imagine if an explosion does happen the government will probably crack down on that.
Whats worse is that a lot of these gas companies would rent a flat and fill the flat with a bunch of these gas cans… wouldn’t want to be their neighbor.
You might want to check if your gas grill is compatible with the gas here because I heard its not the same thing… that they don’t use propane here but rather Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG)

Dissipation of LPG is faster than propane. Propane tends to stick around in the low spots, creating an explosion hazard. Propane burns hotter and is more dense making portability better than LPG. So it would make perfect sense that Taiwan would use LPG.

I believe LPG is just a more condensed form of propane. I’ll definitely look into it.

It is usually a mixture of the two… the ratio varies with different location.
I still wouldn’t live near a flat converted to store all these gas cans though… if a fire breaks out the explosion could be very large. I seriously doubt any of these flats have sprinkler systems.
The gas hook up was different on my American bought gas grill. So I cut it off and installed a Taiwan hook up and it works fine. Might have to run the grill at high a little longer than normal because of the LPG, but I have not noticed much difference.
