Germany’s chief of government (chancellor) Angela Merkel met with the Dalai Lama in her office in Berlin. As a result, the People’s Republic of China canceled talks with the German minister of Justice, which were about to begin, “for technical reasons”.

That’s cool. Merkel grew up in commie East Germany (GDR), so seemingly she doesn’t like totalitarian regimes.
