Germany tells Jews to take off their Kippah because it’s not safe

Anti semitism is returning to Germany. Germany asked Jews to not look Jewish to avoid discrimination and anti Semitic hate crimes as anti Semitic crimes increase.

Multiculturalism, yo.

So the media now thinks wearing a religious head-covering is a human right…? Somebody should inform the Muslimas in France.

I see all the newly arrived brain surgeons and lawyers have assimilated already.

Can you rephrase that comment in non sarcastic terms? What do you mean exactly?

My Super_Fire translator would interpret that as he is referring to the million or so immigrants who flooded Germany recently. He is suggesting they are not high skill talent like surgeons and lawyers and they bring with them a cultural animosity towards Jewish people who are now being told in order for them to be safe should remove their kippah.

You have a problem with someone expressing that opinion?

The article states that 90% of the anti-Semitic attacks are far right, so unless that figure is wrong immigration is not directly to blame.

Well noted, but there is skepticism in the objectivity of media, CNN did this recently, linking white supremacy to a rise in antisemitic hate crimes, until they had rabbi’s on that said that was not where they were seeing the rise in hate crimes come from it was from Muslim groups. I can go dig up the interview for you if you like.

Google -> “jew attacked germany” -> watch in Youtube -> Geez, the “”“far-right”"" definition has become really inclusive.

When I was a kid, “far-right” were white skinheads doing the nazi salute. Now it goes from skinheads to middle-easterns who harass jews on the streets to people doing the ok sign.

The statistic originates from the German interior ministry, so if it is fake we can’t blame the media.

I don’t know what the relationship between the Jewish community and the left wing parties in Germany are like, but in the UK, tensions are as high as ever. This from the Jewish Chronicle,

More on Labour leaders friction.

Part of the reason anti-Semitism claims have grown under Corbyn is that his wing of the party — the socialist left — tends to be passionately pro-Palestine. There is nothing inherently anti-Semitic about defending Palestinians, but such a position can lead to tensions between left-wing anti-Zionists and mainstream Jewish communities.

No but I’d like it hear it from him.

Wow, that’s a pretty huge spin compared to what actually happened:

The German ministry of the interior has a department of 11 people responsible for “Jewish life in Germany and the fight against anti semitism”. The head of this department warned that anti semitism is getting so bad, that (unlike a few years ago) he feels it’s not even safe any more to always and everywhere wear a kippah.

So he is not “asking Jews not to wear kippah” (sounding like “else it’s their fault if they get attacked”). Instead, he is saying people should be able to wear kippah without fear - but they can’t, and we need to fight to make this possible again.

He laments that society is rapidly getting disinhibited and brutalized, and he blames both social media and attacks on our commemorative culture.

Also he mentioned that although the official statistics show that most attacks on Jewish people are from attackers believed to be right-wing extremists, there are also Muslim attackers, who are often influenced by Arabian media that portray Israel and Jews in a disastrous way.

He demands much better education for police and other officials, because he sees huge insecurities in how anti-Semitism is being dealt with. The necessary laws and definitions to deal with anti-Semitism are there, but they need to be known and enforced.

That being said: unfortunately, German anti semitism was never really gone. Anti semites just didn’t dare to show their true colors publicly.

By the way, he (and politicians and media) are calling on everyone to wear kippah to show support. One newspaper even printed cut-out kippahs on the front page… Ironically, it’s one of the tabloids that I feel is responsible for much of the hatred against foreigners nowadays

To add A bit of context the German figures are an increase from 37 to 62 reported violent attacks year on year. In the UK in 2017 145 violent anti-Semitic attacks were reported.

As always, numbers are collated differently in different countries. However, it doesn’t appear that Germany is the sick man of Europe when it comes to anti-Semitism.

Bear in mind that verbal abuse from a stranger is logged as an act of violence in the UK. I’m not sure if the same is true in Germany.

There is a big difference between covering the top of your head or your entire body. From head to toe, to the point that nobody can see who you actually are. Covering the top part of your head does not hide your identity… just saying.

How is it a huge spin?

Is anti Semitic hate crimes on the rise and more cases of anti Semitic sentiment being vocalized? If you’re going to nit pick that there were always still anti Semitic sentiment and it didn’t just return and call it a spin, it’s a bit silly. It’s not hard to comprehend what some meant when they said returning.

What German anti Semitic commissioner said.

**Felix Klein, the German government’s anti-Semitism commissioner, told the Funke media group Saturday: "My opinion has unfortunately changed compared with what it used to be. **

“I cannot advise Jews to wear the kippah everywhere all the time in Germany.”

Hate crime is on the rise since his opinion isn’t what it used to be as he said. He cannot advice jews to wear the kippah. You wear the kippah to show submission to God as a Jew. So you should t wear it because you would look Jewish.

I think I’m pretty much on point.

Since it seems his comments was pretty shocking to the rest of the world and I’m guessing his bosses did not like how he basically said don’t look like a Jew in Germany because the German government can’t protect you from the rising anti Semitism that may be caused by the government.
If you want to say it looks like the guy tried to cover his ass and do damage control after saying those comments later sure. That’s additional news I didn’t know from the original articles. Go ahead and enlighten us. But I did not do a huge spin.

In France the issue was headscarves. They don’t hide the face at all, any more than nuns’ habits do.

If Germany’s not safe, America and Israel are doorways to hell.

Yes, that must be why more Jews live in America and Israel than any other country.

no it’s face covering, not headscarves.
