Getting a car loan

We’ll be moving to Taiwan next month and are wondering if we should sell our car where we currently are (Netherlands) and buy a new car in Taiwan, or to ship it over. Neither of us are Taiwanese, we’ll both be on ARCs.

Browsing through past posts on shipping and importing cars to Taiwan, it seems like a real hassle and not really worth it. However if we sold our car here, we’d be interested in buying a new car in Taiwan. But given the price of cars, we’d need a loan. Again, past posts and other research indicate that it’s difficult for foreigners to get a car loan, but it’s not very clear. Is it completely impossible? I’ve read that one can get a loan with a Taiwanese guarantor - given that we don’t know anyone in Taiwan, how would we do it? Is there a way to do it if you don’t have a Taiwanese spouse or any relatives? Can our employers stand as guarantors? What do most foreigners do? Get company cars, pay cash or something in between?

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks in advance!
