Getting a Taiwan ISBN

Hi Asia baby, I know this is an old post but do you remember how to get an ISBN number in Taiwan?

Hi,
You get it from the National Library… I just happen to have the info out right now… Tel 23619132, email isbn@msg.ncl.edu.tw, website http://lib.ncl.edu.tw/isbn/index.htm

Basically there is a very simple form you fill out, and you send a copy of the cover of your book along with the application. Individuals or companies can apply. You get your number. When you print your book, you give this number to your printer and they will make a barcode for you.

They are changing to a 13-digit isbn here from Jan 2007.

Are you going to use a distributor or have someone publish and distribute on your behalf? We found out too late that stores in Taiwan “require” you to have the info of the distributor on your book, either printed inside or on a sticker (like those at Caves), remember to leave room on your cover for this sticker or you will risk making a cover look unattractive.

Hope that helps.

Thanks so much and for the extra tips!!
