Getting a work permit - Have spousal ARC

I’ve recently been offered work by a company in Software Development. I have an ARC already because my wife is an English Teacher over here.

I’ve heard it’s pretty easy to get a work permit, as long as it’s not Teaching English, if a company wants to employ me. Any idea where to start?

The company asked me to find out as they’re not sure where to start.

I’ve checked some links I found on this board, but didn’t find anything helpfull.

I live in Kaohsiung right now, so any directions based on offices in Kaohsiung would help.

Is your spouse Taiwanese?
If so, you do not need a work permit.
If not, your company needs to sponser your work permit like any other ARC holder.

Sponsor me like any other ARC holder?

So that means I’m basically going in under the ‘foreign professional’ classification? So they have to then ‘justify’ why they are employing me and not a local, and the labor office can then deny my app based on say not enough experience, or not being qualified?

That’s right. Hopefully this isn’t an insurmountable problem.

Let’s hope.

Any idea of minimum experience required or certification?

Usually for tech jobs they’ll ask for a minimum of 2 years experience and references and a degree

In addition, any work experience must be after the degree is granted. But if you have a masters or PhD then no prior experience is needed.
