I’m posting this on behalf of a friend. Does anyone know the regulations concerning getting an ARC through your own company (set up right here in Taiwan)? Minimum investment required? Any other requirements?
This thread was the closest I could find after a search, but it doesn’t quite address the questions I have.
Ann Hu (reccomended in other threads here) told me that with a NT$5M investment you can apply for your own ARC but you need to turn over at least NT$10M in the first year, or some multiple (100%?) of the investment amount, whichever is greater. Basically it is pretty easy in year 1 but you must have a genuine business to keep it going after that. You can contact Ann using ulc@ms13.hinet.net
But it needs to be wired in from abroad and the investment needs to be approved by the governement, and you need to show that you are needed in the company to get a workpermit etc… it’s not easy
A new company must be capitalized with NT$5 million. You may then apply for one work permit for one year as the GM or responsible person. The second year, the authorities will check your revenue. It must be > NT$10 million to get that second year approved. Same for third year etc.
A couple of us started a company just under a year ago, through the same Ann, I believe. We had no foreign investment. Instead we showed tax receipts for legal Taiwanese earnings to the tune of $1.5m total and then borrowed that money temporarily for the setup. We got a total of one ARC, valid for one year, with a $4m revenue requirement for the second year.
