Getting Married! US Citizen to a Taiwan Citizen

Is it necessary to have a valid ARC/APRC in order to go through this process?

I don’t believe so. I had an ARC, but they never asked for it.

@ranlee, you getting married? If so, congrats!

I don’t think so. I presented my passport to AIT for the Single Affidavit and MoFA asked for my passport + photo copy.

Thanks! Yeap, we are currently going through planning. Hoping it runs smoothly between both families.

Thanks y’all, this thread is supes helpful! I have two questions I wanted to see if y’all can help with:

  1. If you have your ARC and copy of ARC, is it necessary to have your passport for the notary or for the HHR? (I’m in the middle of getting a new passport and it won’t be ready for awhile)

  2. Do you print and fill out the Single Affidavit from AIT website or do you pick it up when you get there for your notary appointment? (is it the “Affidavit Regarding Marital Status” doc on this AIT Forms page? https://www.ait.org.tw/u-s-citizen-services/notaries-public/forms/)

Thanks, and congrats!

Welcome to Forumosa and congratulations on your marriage.

For the HHR, yes, in my experience.

They give you the form to fill out.

Just make sure you head to the check in counter 14 right when you enter through the doors.
