Gingerale

I’ve searched through the supermarkets around our area here in Douliu. Does anyone know where to find Ginger Ale in this area or around Chiayi/Taichung?

It always helps with our upset stomachs…

Thanks!

Do you have RTMart supermarkets down there? They usually have ginger ale, club soda and tonic.
Ginger is in a red can, soda’s in a black can and tonic’s in a yellow can.

Make it yourself with a Soda siphon - you’ve got piles of beautiful ginger and cane sugar just lying around

If its just for upset stomach, you can just get a nice big “hand” of fresh ginger from the market, give it a good wash, chop it into big chunks and smash them up a bit – no need to peel it. Stick it in a big pan of water with some rock sugar and boil it up for a while.
I drink it hot when I have a cold but you could probably also have it cold.
It’ll make you sweat but it’ll settle your stomach.

We do have one of these about 15mins away. I’ll see if I can find it. I just picked up a bunch of ginger, chopped up a piece and stuck it in my drink. Didn’t do much, so I’ll try your method.

Thanks!

Do what Sandman said: Shred the ginger (3 or 4 roots) - boil water (about 6 cups) and put in the ginger and let seep. Once cool add some lemon jiuce and suger water (boiled down sugar cane juice, or add .5 cup of water to a cup of water a boii down) to taste. Add soda water to dilute. If you wanna get fancy throw in some cinnamon, but I don’t like too.

Oh yeah - make sure you strain out the ginger

welcome, tesco and drinks (alcohol seller in the north) all sell the red cans of gingerale …

There was a drink called Sprite Flame last winter that had the same taste as gingerale and went well with Brandy. I don’t think that’ll help with an upset stomach but drink enough with Brandy of it and it will move the upset to another body part.
