Global Colding

I know we have a Global Warming thread, but this winter in Taiwan and elsewhere has been colder than I can remember (I hear Tokyo has had a lot more snow than usual this year). Snow this year in Greece, Egypt, other parts of the Mideast (do a google for news items last few weeks), not to forget the big snowstorm in China.

In South America: Residents in Argentina and Brazil are wondering if this winter will ever end. Buenos Aires recorded this Thursday (November 15th) the lowest November temperature in 90 years.

How about 4 data sources to back it up (including NASA and UK’s Hadley Climate Research Unit):

Anyway, sometimes feels like I’m living in a refrigerator every day this winter in Taipei.

I just saw the thread of global colding on Open Forum (even though I searched to make sure this topic hadn’t been covered).
Maybe should drag that thread over, as Global Warming is here in Int’l Politics and up to version V, as well!

one of the predicted consequences of global warming is colder winters in northern Europe, Asia and America, and probably in South America as well, as the deep ocean currents shipping large amounts of heat away from the equator slow down.

to complicate matters further, the massive La Niña event in the Pacific this year (which may be linked to the deep ocean current changes, though no one knows) is playing its usual 7-10 yearly havoc on cloud distribution and therefore rainfall and temperatures across the Southern Pacific, including drought breaking rains and a cool summer for Australia, and drought in Chile/Peru.

one swallow does not a summer make.

Arctic perennial ice melting:
Some 965,300 square miles of perennial ice have been lost – about one and a half times the area of Alaska – a 50 percent decrease between February 2007 and February 2008, Meier said.

The oldest “tough as nails” perennial ice has decreased by about 75 percent this year, losing 579,200 square miles (1.5 million sq kms, or about twice the area of Texas, he said.
The only way out really is war and genocide - leading to a drastic depopulation for re-distribution of resources.

Don’t forget disease - a good dose of the plague should be coming along any minute now…
