Hi,
I tried signing up for a 2 year term 4G mobile internet (foriegn national’s plan) with Global Mobile (store a Bade Rd. near Zhongxiao Xinsheng / Guanghua Market) after completing a their 7 day trial, and was told that in order to sign up, I need to bring a local Taiwanese with 2 forms of IDs, in addtion to my own. I had an ARC (2+ years remaining), national health insurance card, passport, and business card that I was able to provide at the time. They were ok with me simply bring the local Taiwanese’s documentation only, but still not willing to budge with that part of the requirement, although I was willing to pay the two years up front. I had a similar experience with VMax earlier last year, only that they were firm with the local Taiwanese needed to be there in-person.
Is that true for most internet/cellphone places here in Taiwan? Anyone have similar experiences?
I’ve had a lot of issues getting things set up here in Taipei without a local guarantor…
I am tired now.
