Golf in Taiwan

Anyone know of any course to play? Not too expensive and do not need membership.

I played once, stupidly in the middle of summer, out in Danshui. As I was alone, two Taiwanese guys invited me to join them and off we went on our three-ball.

Absolute hell it was. The caddies stick to the cart paths; bring clubs you don’t want, meaning extra trips back to the path. The Taiwanese guys literally raced around the course. And I shot well over a hundred. All this under a baking sun and in steaming humidity.

All that fun for over NT$4000.

Drving ranges are cheap by comparison. A bucket of balls is about NT$200. The maximum distance at the one I frequented was 200m though.

I’m not good with this technial cut and paste stuff, so I hope this works…

It’s a listing of courses in Northern Taiwan, along with green fees.

That’s a nice website. I didn’t know there were so many courses out here. I have clubs, but I need lessons though as I am embarassingly bad.

You can try North Bay Golf & Country Club, it is about 45 more mins north of Dan Shui, close to Chin Shan. You don’t need a membership to play but it is good that you make a reservation early since they are membership base but accept walk-in golfers. Or there is another one close by, very small and no caddy, but the condition of the golf course just sucks. I think it is all Bin Hai…

thanks alot. very helpful
