Hi, I am currently in the US but will be going to Taiwan in August. I have filled out my application for my 60 day tourist visa, but need to provide proof I will be leaving at the end of October (ie ticket for a flight out of the country). I am looking for flight from Taipei to Hong Kong; the cheapest I’ve found is $560. This seems quite expensive; is this a normal price or should I look for something cheaper? Any suggestions?
Hey, I came from france but that shouldn’t change the problem. I was only allowed to stay 3 month without a visa with my french passport but my flight back to france was 5 month later. They did ask me for proof when I first got to Taiwan which I didnt have, but I just told them my flight back to France was in 5 month but I had planned to travel to China in the coming 2 weeks (my relative bought the ticket so I didnt have it on me) and that I would be travelling around Asia during that time without giving them any specifics. When I came back from China and 3 month later from Hong Kong they didn’t even bother asking me for the proof…
Also 560, I'm guessing US is quite expensive… I got my flight last minute from Cathay pacific for a little less than 9000NT$ which would be around US$300.
US$560 is a ripoff for a flight to Hong Kong from Taipei (a one-and-a-half hour flight). You can get round trip flights for NT$5000-9000. One-way should be even cheaper.
500 USD?! Absolute highway robbery. They have packages on sale, plane ticket with hotel on the strip for 7000, for Pete’s sake, and I thought they were expensive because back in the day they were only 5K.
Kewl, thanks for the input. Looked around for prices, and it seems Manila is the best deal ($40 one way) to show proof that I am leaving the country in two months.
