This has likely been kicked around before in here, but I couldn’t locate any past threads.
What is the opinion of the major newspapers (or online equivalents) available in Taiwan? Those that provide local and/or international news. By “opinion” I mean your impression of the paper’s reliability and objectivity mostly.
Below is a list of newspapers attributed to Taiwan, but no review info:
- Taipei Times
- Central Daily News
- China Post
- China Times
- The Journalist
- Liberty Times
- Sino (Chinese, Japanese & English Versions available)
- The Student Post (Chinese & English versions available)
- Taipei Soir
- Taiwan Economic News
- Taiwan News
I am also interested to know about a news source called “The People’s Daily Online” from mainland China. It often comes up in news search results lists, but I’m wondering about its objectivity for obvious reasons.
Comments on any or all?
Do any of these have any special features that a foreigner would want to know about, such as a weekly feature on outdoors events, or a Friday-only feature for social events, etc?
