Graham crackers?

Ok, this is beginning to wear on me. Where can I find graham crackers? Real ones, not the revolting imitations that 7/11 sells. I think the Canadians call them “digestive biscuits” for some unfathomable Canadian reason.

Not this Canadian. We also have the digestive biscuits, but those aren’t the same as Graham Wafers. I love 'em - especially in pie crusts… I’ve seen them for sale in Tianmu at the Wellman Grocery directly across from Jake’s Country Kitchen on Zhongshan North Road, Section 6, close to TAS.

Digestive Biscuits is a British thing- ‘Mcvities Digestives’. Not sure what they have to do with the digestive system that sets them apart from other biscuits but they’re damn good.

FYI - When purchasing ANYTHING from wellman’s in tienmou(thats how its spelled) be sure to check the EXPIRY date…wellmans is notorious for selling ‘out-of-date’ items at ridiculously inflated prices…so disgusting…its easy to find items that date back to the mid 90s on their shelves…

Buyer beware!

Mung,

really? I personally have never had such an issue.

Thx for the heads up… I always check expiry dates regardless, but will be especially careful next time

Can someone fluent in Ozspeak please tell me what graham crackers resemble? I’ve always wondered what they were…

I know what McVitie’s digestives taste like, but they don’t look the same kind of thing, and they vaguely resemble Sao biscuits in appearance but I wouldn’t use Saos for pie crusts :s We even have Nabisco in Oz, but no graham crackers to my knowledge. Are they sweet??? Flaky or crumbly? What’s so great about them?

Graham crackers resemble brown crackers. :stuck_out_tongue: Slightly sweet (molasses, I think) and made of a coarse flour.

I’ve had McVitie’s before (in Canada), and they’re almost exactly the same as the standard Nabisco graham crackers in the U.S. – well, except they were round instead of square, and were more crumbly. Same concept, different recipe.

Thanks, Maoman – I’ll go looking in Tianmu (and will check the expiration dates, Mungacious  ). Whew.

Costco has 'em. Both NeiHu and Shijr.

Good luck.

I bought some a few months ago at Jasons in in Taipei 101. Mami store (Shida) might have some. I know they have graham cracker pie crusts so the might have a box of graham crakers too.

Damn! Now you gonna make me go get some :raspberry: along with some Kool-aid. It’s so expensive but I guess I can splurge once in a while until I make a run to the states in a few months.

I too, am Canadian. We do not consider Graham Wafer’s to be digestive cookies/biscuits. They are two completely different items. I imagine that you can find them much easier in Taipei than in Hsinchu. I have seen them at our local OrangeMart organic grocery store though. Which, by the way I think does some of it’s shopping at some of the Tienmu grocery stores.

If anyone ever finds Jello instant pudding (the box style similar to Jello) that you can just add milk to to make, please let me know! I miss it!

They have them at Jason’s and they also have them at Costco.

They also have them at Breeze Super now (saw them yesterday). They have Keebler brand regular and honey flavor.

Haven’t seen them anywhere.

Costco? Haven’t looked in a while, but they used to have them.

Carrefour did have them a year ago (second half of 2007), but I’ve not seen them since.

You could always ask a store manager if they will get them in. They won’t bring a product back unless there’s a demand, so…start demanding.

Look for the round packages in a red wrapper in the cracker isle at Wellcome, RT Mart, Geant and most other markets. They are labelled in Chinese and English as “Digestive Crackers”. Same as back home but round and a little thicker.

A Search in the Food Forum area will reveal extant threads for most of the items you might want, from achiote to sour cream, including this one.

Bump. A lot of the information in the thread is not current. Does any place in Taipei sell them? Costco neihu, city super at funding and Jason’s in 101 don’t sell them.

Would add that Wellman’s in Tianmu doesn’t sell Graham Crackers. McVittles digestive biscuits yes, but not graham crackers.
