Many of the people active on the site have been to China and I am looking for some info about Guangzhou.
I want to spend 4 months in China and I’m offered an internship in Guangzhou, but i’m not sure if the city is a nice place to go to.
anybody like to share their knowledge about this city?
ps. one of the reasons to be in doubt is that they speak Cantonese over there. Though Some people told me Mandarin is widely spoken there as well…?

Most people are able to speak mandarin, but you will hear more cantonese for sure. I found the people to be rude (generally speaking) and crime is quite bad compared to Taipei. Plus it’s dirty, lol. It’s crowded and the pollution is terrible. Sorry, I can’t think of a single nice thing to say about Guangzhou, but if it’s a good internship, go for it. If your looking more for a cool place to do an internship, skip it. Guangzhou sucks.
Note: I generally don’t like being anywhere in mainland China for many of the same reasons, so I might be biased.

We are also moving to Guangzhou soon. Want to know about sites such as forumosa here that english speaking people often use while in Guangzhou, especially sites information about kids/ children. Thanks!
