Halo 2

I got the limited edition yesterday but is there any way to change the voice-over language to English? I can’t seem to find a language option anywhere!!

Odds are good that’ll be a “No”. But I could be wrong. I don’t really pay attention to X-Box stuff. Makes me feel dirty even typing the word

I may be getting out of X-Box sucks mode. My friend told me Halo 2 is worth getting an X-Box for, so I just might do that. He said to pick up part 1 while I’m at it. About the language, a quick search told me it was LOCALIZED into 8 languages. I’m assuming that means each language has it’s own and only it’s own language in it. Next time try ordering online. Lots of places do free shipping.

[quot=“gamershell.com”]Halo 2 is being localized in eight languages including English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (traditional), Spanish, French, German and Italian.[/quote]

I asked the dealer yesterday and he said the dialogues are only in Chinese. The cinematics have English subtitles so you can at least follow the plot, but in the first Halo your comrades made really funny remarks in the middle of battles that are all in Chinese in the local version. At least it’s fun blowing the heads off Chinese aliens!

It’s an awesome game and not the only reason for getting an xbox. Yes, Microsnot sucks. But yes, the Xbox is the console with the best hardware, which translates to much better graphics and sound than the PS2 or any other console. And you have a massive harddrive on which you can burn audio cd’s and have them played to you in games. By the way, 95% of Xbox games in Taiwan are fully bi-lingual.

Good hardware != good games.

That’s what I hate about bloody gamers these days. All these people (not talking about you personally bobbe) who think the PlayStation is “old school” and who think that more powerful and prettier means better. I remember the days where graphics were a means to an end, not the end themselves, and where people actually judged things on gameplay.

And MK - Halo 1 is only really worth it if you’re able to go multiplayer style. The single-player is a fairly generic, repetitive FPS.

Ok, was only planning on getting ! if I got it free with the system or something. I heard 2 is good one player style, plus can’t the X-Box go online.

Yeah, XBox Live style, but you need to sign up for it and pay for it and stuff, and if you don’t have a sufficiently fast broadband connection it’ll like nuts.

I got the first one for PC and quickly tired of the endlessly repeating, identical levels. Also, no god mode or any other cheat codes of any use. Is 2 any different? If not, I’ll stick with Doom and Half-life.

I’ve heard that 2 doesn’t have the same problems with repetitive, lab-rat-maze levels the first one did, but having not actually had hands-on experience with the second yet I can’t be sure…

All I know if the courter strike people quit working on the new counterstrike to work on Halo 2. Read some reviews and it says the repetiveness is still present in #2 but not as bad. People pointed out the repetiveness of part one and still score it over 9 out of 10. Part 2 is also scored over 9 of 10.

If #1 didn’t float the boat, #2 might not either. Maybe borrow a friends copy first.

Pfft, I’ve seen reviews where cocking horrible games get excellent marks. Especially on IGN. They’ll whore their reviews out to anyone.

Really? I haven’t run across that for games that get marks over 9. Websites usually also have the people’s vote in place and they’re usually really close to each other.

On the other hand reviews are just reviews. If you just don’t like first person shooters, you’ll think a game that gets an 11 sucks. I’ve met many a gamer that didn’t like Metal Gear Solid (one of the best games ever IMHO) because you couldn’t just run around gung ho wildly shooting enemies.

I just got done ordering the US version of Halo 2. I’m almost certain it won’t disappoint (it better not dammit . :fume: )

Well, maybe generally not for games that get over 9 - it would be a bit conspicuous - but then again, it was Halo, the X-Box killer app. If it didn’t get over at least 8, anyone who reviewed it was going to be in some serious crap, either from MS or from the rampaginge hordes of fanboys.

Halo 2 is really awesome!! I was driving around in my Warthog yesterday when to my surprise an alien bastard jumped on the vehicle and threw me out!!! That did NOT happen in 1. I hear you can do the same to aliens in their vehicles but haven’t done that yet. In 2 you can also double-weild almost any combination of weapons which makes for a lot of fun! Start playing the game on the Heroic difficulty setting to make the single player campaign last a little longer. Normal is just too easy.

Been playing part 1 a little over a week now. Here are my thoughts.

I liked the opening story and the way it taught you the basic movements as a part of the story. That ship level seemed boring to me (felt like quake 3 or similar). Then I landed and was outside, that was a little cooler, but the outside coolness wore off. Things started to get slow again, but then a ship dropped off a warthog (a jeep with a gattling gun in the back). This was REALLY cool. I had much fun driving that around with the guy on the back killing everyone. Eventually had to get off and things got slow again (when I say slow I just mean it didn’t feel like anything special).

I was on the 3rd level I think getting bored with it and started playing GTA (that never gets slow ). A friend came over to see the Xbox and Halo (and GTA) so we played the level I was on cooperatively. THIS ROCKS! Playing a single player game with 2 people is LOTS of fun. You can work together to flank the enemy. Driving the warthog with a friend on the back is way for more. You can park it in a group of enemies with your friend still shooting the gun, you hop out and and run around shooting while you’re friend lays down cover fire. Well, it’s just cool.

We beat a level in two player mode (he never even looked at the new GTA) and when I started my one player game the level we beat stayed completed (I was worried it wouldn’t), that was nice. Ever since then all I’ve wanted to play is Halo. The game also has a bunch of other cool vehicles and battle scenes while your playing in one player mode. There’s a whole level dedicated to this tank (the Scorpion) when you just drive around blasting bad guys and watch them sore through the air.

I think one small problem is I’m playing through the game on normal (it’s very easy). There’s been some sections in the game I’ve went through that looked like they’d be really really intense battles on a higher difficulty setting (this level with a pyramid and 5 or 6 unmanned cannons comes to mind).

I also talked to a friend that was always playing Halo 16 player style while he was stationed in Germany. Told me it was lots of fun. Anyway, Halo gets two enthusiastic thumbs up from me (even though it was slow in the beginning). After I beat it, I’ll go through it again on the hardest setting (if I can resist playing Halo 2).

Yes but you can also jump on top of other vehicles and trhow them out too. I play with my son in co-operative mode and it rocks when you play the more difficult levels. Also have weapons in both hands helps too.

The battle rifle is cool. We got the Xbax from Australia and Halo2 was delivered 18th November.

So far I’ve only had a couple of hours on it. Legenday mode whould sort out the real gamers.

Throwing those jokers out of their ghosts kicks ass. The battles are really cool (having teammates running around REALLY doing stuff). Graphics are better. Spent about 10 minutes running around just looking down at my legs (I thought it was cool  ).

This game gets 2 thumbs up.

A lot of you may have seen this already, but I just did and it’s cool. This guy launches Wart Hogs and soldiers in the air using a bunch of grenades.

Ok who is going to let me come over and play this game with them??? Please!!! I loved DM modes in Halo 1 and been itchin to play Halo 2!

I was going to start a thread about us Halo fans getting together for some four player split screen action. My doors are always open for video gaming (assuming I know you already online or in person). If I don’t know you, make attempts to make yourself known (like attending game club or something).

I’d also even lug my Xbox to someone’s house to setup an 8 player (or more) game. I’m thinking I may have to make more local friends to kick it with for this one. But I’m always up for some 2 player co-op split screen. Just drop me a PM.
